first thing you're going to want to do is stitch out
your lace pieces -- three side pieces for the round
scalloped lantern, or four pieces for the square
lanterns, plus one bottom piece.

out freestanding lace -- and make sure to use the
type of thread (rayon or cotton) specified in the thread
list for that particular design.
when your lace is dry and ready, you should have several
lantern sides and a bottom piece, as shown. It’s also
important to note that this kind of lantern is meant for
LED "candles" only, so it’s good to have one on hand to
bring a little light to the project when we’re done.
