Give Your Machine A Facelift

Your sewing machine looking a bit… bland of late? 33stitches has a pretty cool idea on how to give it a facelift… a new coat of paint! I admit I’d be a bit leery of making the knobs and such all sticky, and Julie does mention it still works, but was more intended as a decor piece. I’m guessing with a careful brush instead of a spray can you could get similar results with less risk.  Check out her full post for the how-to.

Steampunk embroidery machine here I come! I wonder if I could design decals?

That is so cute! I want to do that to my Topaz so baaaaaaaad…but then I remember I want to trade it in this year for a Diamond =/ But there’s awesome veneers out there that you can just stick on! And oh ho, when those are mine….

I have never though about dressing up my machine. With all that blank white space taking up so much much space it seems like a duh.. why didn’t I think of that sorta thing. I would not want to paint it because I know my skill at breaking things it’s a 10. So I thought what about using decorative contact papers or duct tape along with all those wonderful vinyl transfers the have these days for walls and scrap booking? No the rusty cogs are turning indeed.

I would think you could use the stock art designs to print decals & use those as a not so permanent decorating option. I’m so bad, my machine has a little frame on the front & I’ve still not put anything in it…so I doubt painting it would ever happen either.

I’d have to totally redo my sewing room if my embroidery machine suddenly became THIS awesome.
