Sarah Symes exhibited a passion for making art with fabric at a young age. Eager to pursue a more academic career, she studied Architecture at the prestigious University College London, before training and working as a Graphic Designer. Sarah relocated to California in 2004, where she now works as a full-time Textile Artist. Sarah attributes her creative process to the many years spent fusing her design sensibilities with the warmth and texture of fabric.

Fascinated by the elemental beauty of California's west coast, Sarah finds inspiration in the ever-changing beach landscape. The interaction between sky, sea and sand is a common theme across her work. Sarah aspires to recreate her internal experiences of places and people through her textile art.
