Ever since he was able to hold a crayon,
Matthew Hennen ate crayons, but then he
turned 4 and realized drawing with them was
much more enjoyable. The rest is history.
While studying art and design at the
University of Wisconsin--Stout, Matthew
found a job in his hometown of Shakopee
doing caricatures at Valleyfair. It was at
this place, under the tutelage of owner and
future Mad Magazine artist Tom
Richmond and many other amazing artists,
that Matt would discover his true path of
art. Although he doesn't use crayons so much
these days, Hennen still adheres to the
roots of his childhood and that vision which
initially inspired him.
Since graduating, it has been of crucial
importance for Matt to continue improving by
enrolling in private art schools, ateliers,
and institutes, as well as keeping a "close
knit" group of friends and inspiration to
"draw" upon (double puns not intended). With
a growing depth of art, a solid foundation
of skills, a vast range of ability, and
coast to coast exposure, Matt is truly
thankful to be known as an artist and to
share his art here with you.
If you like these examples and would like to
commission him for a personal portrait,
caricature, illustration, live event, or if
you just want to see more of his art, you
