Stitchalicious is one of the (ever increasing number of)
nom de plumes of Jacinta Lodge, Berlin-based Aussie expat, ex-scientist and
embroiderer. Stitchalicious is a personal experiment
in cross stitch patterns -- both Jacinta's own
designs and those of collaborating artists are being
made into unusual alternatives to the patterns
usually available. However, Jacinta's true
embroidery love is stumpwork -- a three dimensional
embroidery technique which is far easier than people
seem to think it is. She's been published in the
books
Anticraft: Knitting, Beading and Stitching for the
Slightly Sinister and
Indie Craft, as well as showing her embroidered
work in solo and group exhibitions.
Her design for Urban Threads
is "atrocious" in the best sense. She says, "I used
the word atrocity as I always wanted to be the kind
of girl that people called atrocious. Unfortunately,
I was a nerdy book worm. Now I've started roller
derby and really wanted to use atrocious in my name,
but the Germans just can't pronounce it. So I went
with turning it into an embroidery design instead!"
More of Stitchalicious's cross stitch designs, as well as
Jacinta's other embroidery projects, can be found on
the
Stitchalicious website.
