Monster Bash Contest

Hot on the heels of our new Monster Factory collection, we couldn’t show you all those fun monsters we made without inviting you to make some of your own. So, without further ado, we present a brand new contest, the Monster Bash!

Once you’ve grabbed your Monster Pack, it’s on you to create your very own custom monster, in any way you like. C’mon, you know you’re dying to make one.  It can be anything, from a plushie creation, to stitching monster faces on a shirt, to creating a crazy monster bag. Any monster will do! Once your monster is complete, we want to see!

Snap a picture of your monster(s) and e-mail him to us at contest@urbanthreads.com – either send us the photo itself, or if you’ve uploaded your pic to the Urban Embroidery flickr group, just tag it utmonster and send us a link to the photo. But either way, you MUST email us your monster to enter! Why? Well, I’ll tell you why…

Just for sharing your awesome monster creation, you automatically get a FREE $5 gift certificate to Urban Threads! Direct from us to you for taking part in our awesome monster making endeavor. (You may enter as many monsters as you like, but you only get ONE gift certificate, no matter how many monsters you create).

That’s not all … submit your monster and grab your gift certificate by the deadline of Feb. 29, 2012 at 11:59 p.m., (that’s the end of February) and your monster is entered in the contest to win the crown of King of the Monsters!

The gang here at Urban Threads will pick our ten favorite finalists, and then on Friday, March 2 we’ll post those finalists up here for everyone to vote on their favorite! Voting will last through the weekend, and we’ll announce the winner on the following Monday.

The winning monster will win a permanent feature in our shiny new lookbook for everyone to see, with the name of the crafter who made the winning monster, plus major bragging rights as the crafty creator who made the King (or Queen) of the Monsters! That’s a title not many people can claim.

UT Tutorial – Karen’s Slipper Socks

Since I’ve never been clever enough to figure out how to hoop regular socks (and you know I’m usually up for trying to hoop anything) I was so thrilled when Karen offered to share her tutorial on how she makes these adorable embroidered slipper socks from scratch, so embroidery is easy.

Thanks so much Karen! Our feet will all be a bit toastier because of you, and our regular socks will breath a sigh of relief, released from their fear of being haphazardly mangled around an embroidery hoop.

UT Tutorial – Cute Critter Tissue Holders

Cold season is upon is, and the a case of the sniffles isn’t something we can usually escape for long. You might as well be prepared, and well, a little entertained as well right?

Then grab yourself a super cute and fairly hilarious little bunny, monster, or robot to keep you company through the cold season. They’re created entirely in the hoop and they’re  a snap to make.

Get the tutorial here on how to stitch ‘em together in the hoop.

One they’re created, just feed em’ some travel size tissue packets and you’re good to go.

Honestly, who hasn’t wanted their own personal robot cold assistant to keep you company while you’re sick?
