Request Fest Weekend!

Untitled-1

Hey Urban Threadsters — Did you know you can request embroidery designs? It’s true! It’s part of the selection you can make in our contact form. Customer requests have turned into some very popular designs, like the ones pictured above. Want to see your idea in stitches?

Well, this weekend, we’re looking for 5 awesome design ideas for an upcoming release. We want your input! So this weekend specifically, send us an idea through the contact form OR leave a comment on this post with your design request! The team will pick 5 ideas from this weekend and previous requests and turn them into awesome upcoming designs. Remember, designs that will be popular for everyone (instead of a design specifically just for your pug named Sparky) are more likely to be chosen.

What are you waiting for? Leave your idea below in the comments, and you could get your dream design.

P.S.: Though we’ll be looking at comments from over the weekend, our request line is always open through that contact form. Send us a great idea anytime!

    Britta Koch says:

An eye patch made as one of your beautyful lace designs, please. Steampunk or pirate style would be great.

    Tanya says:

I would LOVE a design with a sad looking cartoon bunny with a ball and chain shackled to his ankle. A caption that reads “I love my job”.

  3. 3
    Lynne Weinberger says:

Papel picado rectangles and banners, and more Day of the Dead designs. Thanks!

  4. 4
    Tanya says:

I also have a thing for fleur de lis…maybe with pretty swirls surrounding it? Just a thought

    Thank you!!

  5. 5
    Mellonie Adams says:

I would love to see some more birds like a Peacock, Dove and Swan even possibly a Humming Bird done in the same style as the Anima designs. Also some Gothic angels LIKE the ones that can be found in the Nemesis Now collection of figurines. https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=nemesis+now&espv=210&es_sm=122&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=9hn1UpXwKIzA7AbtsYC4Cg&ved=0CAoQ_AUoAg&biw=1120&bih=611&dpr=1.5

More cutwork designs! I love the cutwork heart. Perhaps a skull, or a bird or owl of some sort? It makes it really easy to add a flirty cutout or a creative patch to clothing!

  7. 7
    sylvia says:

Nerdy science things, like maybe embroidery designs of microbes!

  8. 8

I would love to see flower fairy wings! It could be a whole design set! :)

  9. 9
    Gabriela says:

how about more creatures with tentacles, little baby ones big scary, oh even some that like to drink a cuppa!
    wink wink :0

  10. 10
    Carmen Pattie says:

I would love to see more design options for all things “ZEN” A Buddah, the “OM” symbol, etc… :)

    • Marnette Hurt says:

The “OM” symbol would be great. I have a few friends that do yoga and they have requested me to embroider it on something. I haven’t found one yet and if you digitize one, it would solve my problem.
      Thank you.

  11. 11
    Liz says:

A no soliciting sign in both light and heavy stitching!!!!!

  12. 12
    Dixie says:

    linework fairies!

  13. 13
    Nancy says:

I love the freestanding lace necklaces, masks and bracelets and barettes. Would love to see some more of that! I love gothic and steampunk ideas

  14. 14

A European-style dragon would be awesome (lion-type body with four legs and two wings). Especially something that could be embroidered in jewel colors on a black shirt.

    • js says:

I second the Dragon – maybe even a friendly looking dragon – not “cutsy” – a “real life dragon” – like we all know what a “real life dragon” looks like !

  15. 15
    Janet C says:

MOOSE! You have lots of other animals but no moose. Minnesota animal! :)

I would also love a world map. A pretty swirly, sketchy, colorful map of the continents.

    And a new alphabet.

Thank you! Love everything you do.

  16. 16
    Nancy Drake says:

I would like to see some steam punk style farm machinery. Tractor particularly. A windmill ( old style) would also be great. Maybe a stacked up group of old equipment. Thank you so much.

  17. 17
    Pixi says:

As someone who strictly does hand embroidery, I’d love fairies, dragons or Cthulhu designs that easily translate to hand stitching.

  18. 18
    Candy Pfeifer says:

I’d love to see something along the lines of Game of Thrones. Maybe winter is coming….

    • Me, too! Would love to see something like the awesome work on Game of Thrones costumes. Oh, and a female gnome would be lovely. Not a wispy, runway type but a motherly fem like in the original book, Gnomes.

Thanks for opening this up for input! Very kind.

  19. 19
    Ginger Monastyrski says:

I would love to see anything remotely (in other words, not copy right infringing >:) Big Bang Theory related!

  20. 20
    Jennifer ward says:

A zombie family, or anything zombie related!

  21. 21
    Betsy Lipes says:

I would love a selection of blocks from the periodic table of elements. They could then be mixed and matched. The whole set would be amazing!

  22. 22
    Betsy Lipes says:

Oh yeah.. I would also LOVE some weeping angels statues too!

  23. 23
    Rebecca says:

I love the mad scientist crest. I used that design for my son’s science teacher who teaches life science. How about a crest for a physics teacher or student? I have a cousin who is a physics pHD graduate. Something nerdy with a Newton apple or E=mc 2. How about a math patch too?

  24. 24

I love when you do “nerdy science” designs — my sons LOVE those. Big bang theory Sheldon quotes would be great, like “I’m not crazy. My mother had me tested” would be fantastic. Also would love a design that read “May the mass x acceleration be with you” in a Star Wars type font. I would love to see some tattoo designs incorporating poison dart frogs for my frog-loving 10-year old, and a quirky music collection with maybe skeletons or zombies playing violin, piano, etc — but the violin bow has to be parallel to the bridge on the violin. I hate it when I see designs with violins and they are showing terrible playing posture!

  25. 25
    Kit says:

I’d soooo love to see a more gender neutral FSL crown design. I’ve made the snowflake crown multiple times for the little girls in my life, but my son wants a crown too, but he doesn’t want a “princess” crown like the girls have gotten. A more classic crown shape would be amazing!

  26. 26
    Diane says:

My 10 yr old Airedale terrier had breast cancer last August and I would like a breast cancer for dogs design that says “Fight like a dog”, in support of pet lovers and their pets. Thanks for considering this request

  27. 27
    Kristin says:

I second the “nerdy science things” suggestion. Also more designs for boys – you have some awesome ones but always looking for stuff my 5- and 8-year-olds would wear.

  28. 28
    Jan in SoDak says:

Craft Brew/Home brewing items – the hop and grain crest is nice but maybe some steampunk like brewing equipment would be fun. I also 2nd the ideas of steampunk farm stuff – windmills, tractors and such and a moose!

  29. 29
    Karen says:

Angels, male and female, of the following:
Kpop, Jpop, punk rock, football, internet, goth.

A male dark winged angel would be so sexy…

    Just thoughts

  30. 30
    Meg says:

Atomic retro! Boomerangs, stars, orbits, planets, rockets! Would be lovely accents for simple shift dresses and subtle, classy home decor pieces.

  31. 31
    Cindy says:

I agree with some of the comments…I’d love more chemistry related designs for my chemist husband! I love the periodic table single elements idea so we could ‘write’ our own words. Big Bang would be fun too.

    • Cheriwho says:

I would love to see the periodic table also–then we could spell out Bazinga like Sheldon says. I did see a t-shirt like that using the elements and it was very cool. I would also like to see some Zentangle (is a registered name)like designs. On one site I did find an alphabet like that-but they called it Zendoodle I think. Quilters are doing zentangle drawings to learn free motion quilting. More nerdy sayings for t-shirts would be good.

  32. 32
    Claire says:

hoping for the words HOPE FAMILY and “UNTIL” ……………

  33. 33
    eatsallinsects says:

Have wanted the “pointage font” (Google images) for several years and I think Urban Threads would do a really good job of digitizing it!

  34. 34
    Amy says:

I requested this a few years back, but am trying again! A skully that is a derby girl… would be so cute with a helmet and skates! Thanks!

  35. 35
    Kelly Heintz says:

I would like to see more alphabets. Celtic, Goth, Earthy, maybe?

    Thanks!

  36. 36
    Liddy says:

I’d really really love some FSL gloves (Battenberg style) with a dark twist, maybe a skull featured on the part that goes over the hand, or shaped raven wings over the hand…
Other than that…more dragon designs please, preferrably european style!

  37. 37
    Paula ! says:

I would LOVE design packs of goth inspired military regalia and one Steam Punk inspired. So one could make a “Goth” or “Steam Punk” uniform looking piece.

    Rank insignias
    Badges
    Patches
    Epilets
    Medals
    Dog Tags
    Leaf embellishments (a.k.a. “scrambled eggs” – http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scrambled_egg_%28uniform%29),

    Campaign awards (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Awards_and_decorations_of_the_United_States_Armed_Forces)

I have photos for suggestions if that helps.

  38. 38
    Marianne says:

I second (and third or fourth, whatever we’re up to!) for more FSL. Battenberg would be very cool. Or something like this http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/0/01/1911_Britannica_-_Lace_3.jpg that’s a lace trim. I’ve got this endless hoop that I’ve never had the chance to use but would absolutely love to!

  39. 39
    Tam Novena says:

Hoopdancers!! We hoopers need some love!
(Link included in case yall haven’t seen hoop dancers before)
    http://www.hooping.org/

I’d also love to see another lace design pack like Evenfall, and definitely another lace mask. Evenfall was very Air element. Maybe a different element for the next one? Flames? Scales? Vines? Petals?

And lace horns would rock. Maybe a circle/spiral that can pop up when you pull the middle out? It would require a bit more soluble stabilizer, but hey, we could use all our scraps.

    Oh, Definitely more lace jewelry!

  40. 40
    Tam Novena says:

Ooooh! And lace Tentacles!!!! Based on the same circle/spiral design! Or any other possible tentacle lace!

  41. 41
    holly says:

I need a funky chainsaw design, my hubby is an arborist and I would love to see some funky tree designs. How about a set to honour the working class men and women? I work in the gaming/service industry and would love you see card games and slot machines.

  42. 42
    ande spenser says:

I would love, love to have the sigils from The Black Pullet digitized. I run an occult shop and we sell the heck out of the pendants, so it would be fantastic to be able to stitch them out in their proper colors on silk as specified in the text.

    http://www.hermetics.org/pdf/grimoire/theblackpullett.pdf

    designs start on page 15.

I’m also hoping that your tarot designs will be available for the 4×4 hoop. There are a lot of UT designs that are wonderful for tarot card bags, but it would really rock to be able to make spread cloths and bags with the little tarot guys on them!

bookmarks, chokers, masks, and bracelets that are stitchable in two or more pieces for the small hoop. There are some really cool gothy ones on the site but they won’t fit in my hoop, so I just have to sit there and covet the larger size hoops.

    • Kathleen says:

I will second this, may be it could be combined with the seals of salmon
it would be great to have this in embroidery desings!

      Keep the good work going,
      Darkest greetings
      Kate

  43. 43
    Sandy says:

I’d love to see another sign language design like “louder than words”. The whole alphabet, so I could create my own words would be even better! Thanks.

  44. 44
    diane says:

A vulture holding a heart in his mouth(beak) with “never trust someone who says ‘trust me'”

  45. 45
    Rosser Tilley says:

How about a collection of Victorian lingerie? You have one design, Corsetry, but why not a whole series of lovely lacy little sexy things?

  46. 46
    ayne says:

A big, hairy tarantula. More zombies and ninjas…or ninja zombies. And more pixel pals to go with the three you already have.

  47. 47
Juliann aka The Sick Chick says:

I agree to lots of the above: pirates, Doctor Who, freestanding lace, steampunk, more peacocks, Zen, etc. I’d also love to see: more dinosaurs, more patches, more in-the-hoop stuffies, bison, western landscapes, Downton Abbey inspired designs, Sherlock Holmes/detectives, medieval and Renaissance designs (especially for use on costumes), and 1950s road trip/Route 66 inspired designs (for my Route 66 trip later this year!).

  48. 48
    RaeRae says:

I’d love to see an assortment of kanji (Chinese/Japanese pictograms), and a katakana (Japanese syllabary) alphabet collection. An Egyptian hieroglyph alphabet collection would be amazing as well!

  49. 49
    Ray says:

I think a set of paw prints (wolf, bear, tiger, etc.) either in the style of the Dark Wolf design or the Anima series, would be really neat.

  50. 50
    Anne St John says:

How about a ‘Fabulous Fifties’ themed design pack?

  51. 51
    tjones says:

The Twelve Days of Christmas in true Urban Threads style

  52. 52
    Laurie says:

I second the 4×4 Tarot designs. They don’t even have to be the same ones – just Tarot as a 4×4

Oh, and I have suggested this before, but your artists are AMAZING and I think they could do a Steampunk Zodiac like no one else could. And please, 4×4 hoop! So cool to have something like that!

A skeleton zodiac would be cool, too, come to think of it…

Keep the great designs coming. Though you are making me go broke!

  53. 53
    Becky (central oregon) says:

I would love to see more designs that reflect sets of the 4 seasons.

  58. 58
    Nancy says:

    Mahjong tiles

  59. 59
    Robina says:

Some more sea or pirate designs baroque or even a mermaid/sea lace choker would be awesome.

  60. 60
    Lindsay says:

The ideas I back up are the eye patch lace, a more regal (read gender neutral) crown, the periodic table pieced apart (maybe later since it sounds like a large project), 4×4 tarots and the moose (sketchy or fractal would be great). I also want 4×4 constellations, equations like the minimal surface equation (with bubbles around it) or calculus or the general relativity equation (with a sketch of Einstein) as seen here http://www.livescience.com/26680-greatest-mathematical-equations.html. I would be all over that. Some physics equations would be nice too, like kinetic energy (I’m sure nerdy moms with ADHD kids would get a kick out of that one) or Newton’s laws. Ooh, or a super hero with (instead of a whoosh) the equation for instant acceleration and velocity trailing behind him (seen here http://www.docstoc.com/docs/9285/Physics-Equations). Those would be rad. Ok, I’ll stop. haha

  61. 61
  62. 62
    Reagan says:

Coffee/barista related “achievement” badges! Grinder, portafilter, tamper, etc. Think of all the currently unhappy, non-badge-wearing, embroidery-lacking baristas and wanna-bees there are out there! (I even have some designs in vector and would gladly sign over the copyright.)

  63. 63
    Mara says:

I am so hooked on Sherlock!! Something Holmesian I think would be right up the alley of the UT Gang.

  64. 64
    Kim says:

  65. 65
    Michelle Ford-Copley says:

Would LOVE to see more zombie designs, and I love my pugs or anything related to animal rescue, would love to see some Game of Thronesesque designs, a new alphabet would be WONDERFUL and of course keep those gorgeous ravens coming along with the skulls and other darkish stuff. My daughter loves all things with tentacles so those would be a win in my household! Also I wanted to share a friend of mines link to his art collection that you might wanna check out…Mayhaps one day you all could work together on somethings. http://morbideusgallery.tripod.com/ and http://www.postmortem-prod.com/

I’m totally in love with so many of your designs and have also already bought and used a lot of them :-) I’d like some doodles – in squares to use in various constellations or as a layer in a combined embroidery… Also doodle frames in various sizes to combine with your other awesome designs. Take a look at deviant art shop and maybe make an deal with some of the artist there – some of their collage elements would make fantastic embroideries – e.g. itkupili… just saw Rafael’s angels with cat faces…

  79. 79
    mape says:

My daughter is begging for a koala design, you’re the only one to be able to make a cool, fun and cute koala. They’re the best huggers in the world.

zombie baby dolls for boys and girls, or zombie babies for boys and. girls

  86. 86
    Beedragonlady says:

Something with eagles. You do many ravens (which is funny because at our school instead of being overrun with pigeons or seagulls, we are 4 miles from the beach, we have ravens the size of pterodactyls) but I don’t see eagles. Eagles are very important in many cultures. Though I am only 1/4 Native, I like to remind my children of their heritage. And I love your dragons, of course, keep them coming!! Anything “teachery” would also probably be used by many of us. Love your stuff!!

  87. 87
    Shari says:

I’ll echo a number of the ideas already noted:
    * Periodic table of the elements
    * Big Bang Theory and nerdy science icons

My request is Art Deco. I love Art Deco. Letters, objects, abstracts etc.
I can’t wait to see what you decide on.

    Hello !

I really already enjoy almost all of your designs ! thanks for all this excellent work !

For me, I would like to have more vegetarian things, and some vegan themed ! (The vegeterian dinosaure is really cute and I love it !)

Maybe something like the poster I want to believe from the X-files would be absolutely awesome !

and a pack with legendary monsters, like chupacabra, the yeti and other would be very dramatic !

thank you for the request and continue to make me dream and work hard with your super great designs !!!

    3. More tattoo style items.

    So many great ideas!!

I would love to see some Tudor/Renaissance (not Renaissance fair) designs.

    Also a full FSL crown.
    And…….anything Muchaesque.

I’m sure anything you decide on will be awesome.

    Dolce and Gabbana’s collection
A new tiara to go with or a new headpiece something similar to Ulyana Sergeenko’s dimensional one

Wow. so many great ideas have been suggested. I don’t know if I can add anything more.

    Tattoo fonts
    Olympic inspired
more cute skeletons (like a matyroska…I know you have a dia de los muertos version but a cute version would be nice)
pole dancing and belly dancing designs

How about a design pack with the “7 Sins”
wouldn’t this be cool… you could give this a really great twist..

    Keep up your great work!

I think some light stitching retro campers would be fun. Even some with steampunk type designs?
    Loving your designs.

I would like a run line font. Something light and airy. I could put meow on a quilt or Boo on a shirt. I like words….but I make up my own.

    Jocelyn says:

I’d like a design pack of the words ‘Hope’ , ‘Faith’ , ‘Love’ and ‘Peace’

I searched for these words and only found peace and love, both in different styling. I think these words will look nice embroidered and framed in an entryway of a house..

    Deanna LeBrun says:

I know this is late and may have been posted but a flying monkey (my dogs nickname because of how he jumps), serious Cthulhu designs, maybe a decorative neck design for a shirt-I know it would have to be split but I would pay extra. Oh and a filled Ganesha and a separate little mouse.
Thanks for being so cool guys!

Could we maybe have some hunky gothic male angels?

    Carolyn Cook says:

I know this is too late, however, for later consideration: things I could use for boys – the globe/map/universe idea mentioned; more science things = periodic table idea I like; atoms; computer/technology ideas (I use the control/alt/delete symbol a lot)eg binary; computer language; computer chips etc; galaxy things with a retro or steam punk twist – ie not for a toddler; basically anything which I might use for a 8 year old which isn’t twee/toddler-ish etc. (Obviously these could also be used for girls, but the ‘pink’ market does seem well catered for in the embroidery design market).

    Theresa says:

Line work fairies mixed with flowers would be awesome!

Also maybe the periodic table or science themed for all of us nerds out there.

And space themed ones too ;)

Like others, I am obsessed with your site! Some quick ideas, sorry if they are already mentioned:

    1. more alphabet
    2. more quilting running stitch
    3. more “foreign” inspired designs: bavaria, spain, coral reef, temples. Or even “collectables” from these areas (like your cuckoo clock one!) nutcracker, leiderhosen, polish pottery, mosaic, african fabric, boomerang, etc.
    4. fancy goldfish! oranda, ryunkin, black moor, pearlscale

    Thanks! xoxo
