And the finalists are…
UPDATE: Poll closed! More info soon.
Thanks to everyone who entered the coloring contest in celebration of Urban Threads’ third birthday! It’s been awesomely inspiring to see all your variations on the Maiden Monarch embroidery design. You should definitely check out all the entries – they’re gorgeous!
Because choosing finalists would have been far too difficult, we asked some fabulous celebrity judges to do it. Erich Campbell of Black Duck selected the machine embroidery finalists, and Mr X Stitch chose the hand embroidery finalists you see here. All finalists are guaranteed a $10 gift certificate to Urban Threads, but each category’s top winner, chosen by YOU, will win a $100 gift certificate.
Ready? Check out the finalists in this post, then vote (only once per category, please!) for the one you like best in the poll right below each category’s entries. Voting closes Monday, June 6 at 8 a.m. Central time.
First up: machine embroidery finalists!
Jeannine went with a fire and ice theme:

I love to see all the different color combos. Great job everyone!
Thanks for the wonderful design!
The fire & ice is Genius and I was madly, deeply in love with queenmaab’s work from the first time I saw it. But all of them are really wonderful
Thanks for the fun contest!!!
Isabell is my favorite!
They all certainly inspire us to stitch several different color ways of
this design out for ourselves.
I bet it was really hard to judge on this, they are all so nice. Thank you UB for the FREE design and the great effort you put into making your site so much fun.
Linda
Awesome!!
What wonderful work by all. So many beautiful themes made it very difficult to choose a favorite. I haven’t done a hand stitched design in years. These are gorgeous. I know how much time it takes, and these are truly works of art.
They are all so BEAUTIFUL, very hard to choose!
I love all the variations!
Simply stunning…..so inspiring
The hand designs were totally awsome and hard to tell they were done by hand . So it was very intrestiong trying to deside but WOW were they great and the machine designs were something to think about .

Nice!
I am amazed at those hand embroidered ones…. WOW to all the entries… and Happy Birthday Urban Threads… I love your unique site.. Here’s to many many many more years…
Pam’s is my favorite. I like the varigated threads that Katrina used too. I think there are parts of all of them I liked, but Pam’s just
“popped” for me.
That was a fun contest! My 2 maidens were put to good use via handbags!
Wow… I had no idea hand-embroidery could look so beautiful and professional! I’m just learning!
They were all very interesting, very talented people here at UT. Enjoy your prize!!!
Pam’s did it for me. And sharon’s. They’re all beautiful, but I lingered longest over these two. I wish I had thought to use variegated thread like Katarina, though. That was inspired!
Pam. Love the reds, oranges, browns and golds.
Great job everyone.
I’m sad that I didn’t make it to the finals, but overly excited at the ones that did. These are all fantastic! I voted for Isabelle’s. I love the metallics! <3
They are all so awesome. Each one of them deserves a prize…
