How Machine Embroidery Designs Are Made

Many of you have asked before about the process that goes into making a designs, well today just felt like the right day to come clean about how the magic happens. Literally. You have no idea how many tiny tacos it takes to stitch out all our designs.
Ok, so I know it’s coming… how many of you really want Steampunk Bacon Cat as a design?
*EDIT* – Ok, your wish is my command. That’s right, your Steampunk Bacon Cat design is here! Get him right here. Just make sure your tiny sewing gremlins are well stocked with tiny tacos.
(Also, I feel it prudent to note that I am the first person on the internet to put the words “steampunk bacon cat” together. It’s true. I googled.)

I am awed with your brilliance.
I like the design.
Amazing! Who knew……! LOL
~Blessings~
Always amazed by your creative genius!

you guys are hysterical. and now I am craving tiny tacos.
I’d put a Steampunk Bacon Cat design on a doggie shirt for my Lucy! She loves bacon, and (kinda) loves cats!
this is pure genius. I am in awe of Steampunk Bacon Cat. This needs to be a TV cartoon. Would rival Spongebob, I have no doubt!
We want bacon, we want bacon, where is bacon?
No wonder I am having trouble with my follow-through. I only have the Digomatic 1996.
I definitely want steampunk bacon cat! also you should so totally make that infographic into a cafe press poster!
Wonderful! Now I have a great explanation of digitizing to pass on to my customers!
The entire time I was reading this I was thinking “I know this is an April Fools thing, but oh my god I need the steampunk bacon cat.” I also agree with making this into a poster.
Anything combined with bacon is pure gold! Bring on the Steampunk Bacon Cat!
Send some of that Steampunk and Bacon my way….not so sure about the cat….rather have the bunny-LOL!
What DK said. Every bit.
Too funny! I love the steampunk bacon cat! Now I know how to explain what I do to people! Thanks for all the fun and amazing designs you create!
As a grandma I do like some of the steampunk designs, so I found my self fascinated with the story of how you digitize a design. I knew Unicorn magic had to be a part of it!
Please, Please, Please make this into a poster available to all – even if we have to print it out ourselves.
But of course! Must have SBC. Priceless post on multiple levels!

Great. Now my daughter has been going around all day saying “steampunk bacon cat”. In fact, she named her cat in nethack (a game)… yes, steampunk bacon cat. I’m not sure who the bigger geek is, me or her.
OMG, people still play NetHack??? I LOVE YOU!
Is SBC peameal or rasher bacon? That makes a difference.
Yes to Steampunk Bacon Cat!
I don’t do machine embroidery but I loved this. Do the tiny sewing gremlins live in my Granny’s sewing machine? I think I need some tiny tacos, or replacement sewing gremlins if mine starved to death from no use. The funny thing about the tiny tacos is I have GIR from Invader Zim in my head shouting about tacquitos.
I would love a pattern for a Steampunk Bacon Cat that I could cross-stitch.
Oh my! My friend has a little weird concept that if she smells bacon it will relieve her stress, depression or any of lifes little bothers.
Now with Steampunk Bacon Cat, I would make her an apron, stain with bacon grease and she should always be happy!!!!
Just love all the designs!
I think it’s effin’ cute!
I am amazed at how many gremlins it takes to make a design come to fruition!
The Steampunk bacon Cat is adorable! I may put one on a shirt for my brother-in-law, since he’s a bacon fiend.
Thanks for the idea and design!
Bacon and cats??? – Genius!!!
Yes! Steampunk Bacon Cat needs to be real! (and incidentally, so does the chubby unicorn – SOOOO cute!)

I NEED a Steampunk Bacon Cat embroidery design in my life. Do it. Do it. You know you want to. The emperor will reward you handsomely.
I have friends that need steampunk bacon cat on something…of this I am sure…

I love Steampunk Bacon Cat!
“It’s a pork fat thing”. Emeril Lagasse. Love the steampunk bacon cat, and the wonderful explanation. SO many things have become apparent now…
I am sure as word gets out of this amazing design, it will soon be a worthy rival to “Soft Kitty” in another realm.

I love it! Who wouldn’t want a steampunk bacon cat. Really!
Next free design should be steampunk bacon cat … Love your designs
That’s weird because I thought I was the only one with a Dig-o-matic 2000!So, just business owner to business owner, how many tiny tacos per piece do you pay your gremlins?
OK, Now I understand! It is the combination of Caffeine, Unicorn Magic and taco-eating Sewing Gremlins that make every design work! Thanks!
I’m sorry but I have to take issue with this – you have failed to mention that the Digomatic is overseen by a seahorse called Veggie.
xx
Please let me know when and where I may purchase the Steampunk Bacon Cat design for use with my Bernina. This must be a T-shirt among other treasures. I may even put it on a roll of toilet paper for a gift. Because I can.
I am really in awe of this post. You have let out all the industry secrets, this is exactly how we do it too! You will be hearing from my lawyers.
Just kidding! Brilliant explanation of the process. But if you make Steampunk Bacon Cat, someone will be clamoring for Steampunk Bacon Dog, Mouse, and of course Steampunk Bacon Monkey.
I need to learn to digitze so I can do some schmancy brocade designs incorporating my logo for my product packaging. I suppose if I google I can find some tutorials.
We are a steampunk family that is owned by a cat named Poptart that loves Bacon. Can’t wait for the design.
I agree with EVERYBODY. STEAMPUNK BACON CAT FTW.
I NEED a Steampunk Bacon Cat!!!!
Yes to the steam punk bacon cat!! Clearly I need more voodoo to make my designs so clever……or maybe IT gnomes…great explanation and thanks.
Karen
Now I know why my digitiizing isn’t as well thought out as yours….love everything you do! Bring on the Steampunk Bacon Cat!!
I get it now. Must have tiny tacos.

Brilliant and I would also love to have Steampunk Bacon Cat. My SIL loves bacon and I can think of something to put it on. Thanks for all your brilliant designs. Hugs
I’m disappointed, I thought you said, “Steampunk, Bacon, Bat!

I will pay you three billion tiny tacos for a poster of this.
I just saw this and it is the best thing ever! Too funny. I also now want a tiny sewing gremlin to call my own.
All this time I kept thinking I had to call the sewing machine repair guy, and all I really needed was more tiny tacos. Thank goodness for this most informative and helpful tutorial. You have save my bacon.
I would like a poster of that. Pretty please.
…You should TOTALLY make a poster of this!
Omg that’s awesome
it reminds me of nyan cat <3 so creative (;
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA – it describes perfectly how i think my clients think i work!!!
the only think that is missing from the Steampunk Bacon Cat is …. COWBELL!!
Love it! will be stitching this out for sure!
Thanks
Geoff
Ah finally someone else who understands my plight!!!!(insert sinister laugh here)
Okay, the bacon cat is too cute, but my favorite things are the caffinated monkies. It takes one to appreciate one, you know.
Personally I would love a team of ‘highly caffinated monkeys’ working at my job – Oh hang on a minute we do have a team of monkeys, all caffined up, at my job! LOVE this poster it totally rocks x.
My walls are completly bare. I believe everyone needs highly caffinated monkeys, but bacon cats have to stay away from here with 3 Boston terriers.(they love bacon)
I think it has to be a dead heat between the banana-themed cup of coffee and the sprinkles. Truthfully, it takes all of these things. Being someone who is actually a man-suit filled with caffeinated monkeys standing on a Digomatic 2000, It’s hard to choose just one element.
That’s why my designs are no where near as good as yours – my monkeys drink decaf!
LOVE Steampunk Bacon Cat! – any chance of a three legged version just like my rescue cat Denzel?
The highly caffeinated monkeys are obviously the most important aspect, as their terrifying space monkey cousins would tell you.
I gotta say that is has to be the diet coke, sprinkles and SciENCE! (Sheldon of Big Bang Theory would be ecstatic about that response) And then the I.T gnomes and GEARS (that’s for my husband, the software and engineer geek – hehehehe!).
sizzle steam punk bacon cat, those buzzed monkeys cooked another delightful dish!
