by Annemieke

Dress by Annemieke, using the Elven Court collection to full effect. Gorgeous!

by Jeanelle

Amazing couples costume by Jeanelle. She also used the Elven Court collection to create the amazing gentleman’s coat.

by Nancy

Stunning costume by Nancy, using 10 individual UT embroidery designs in the project! Her costume includes designs from the Steampunk Alchemy collection, keyhole on the corset, All Seeing Eye on the holster, Tentacles and Kraken on the inner front skirt, and the Mermaid Cameo on the back of the outer skirt. She finished it off with the Lace Rose, Lace Feather and Steampunk Lace Choker as accents to make her Steampunk Gunslinger come to life.

Untitled-1

WINNER! Congrats to DonnaMichelem, who created another amazing Assassin’s Creed costume for her son, DustynLayne. She used many designs from the Gilded Heraldry collection, as well as some damask designs. “This costume I started on October 1st, and is made out of pure suede and love,” she said. She hand-dyed the repurposed leather herself, too. Amazing!

by Brittany

Brittany stitched up this amazing swashbuckling jacket, featuring bold use of the tentacles design.

kitsune by Emily

Inspired by the Kitsune design, Emily crafted this foxy costume, using some cherry blossoms and moons. The kimono, ears, and tails are all made by hand!

by Tam for Jack

Tam made this”Sir Awesome” knight costume for her son Jack. Too cool.

by rachel

An amazing Steampunk Matador costume by Rachel, featuring lots of embroidery, from a steampunk heart, gears and sleeve, and a steampunk steer design. She writes that costume was designed to pay homage to the man whose kidney saved her life. She was initially told she could not go on the waiting list, but fought for her care. As she says, this costume is “to recognize that there will always be a bull to fight and you should never, ever, ever, ever give up!” Read the full story here.

by Mariah

Mariah is back again, crafting these amazing costumes for Krusher and Flynn — Krusher is the lion tamer, and Flynn is an adorable circus lion. The embroidery included is from the Cirque Noir collection, and a tiny lace top hat to make these outfits complete!

by Jenny

Traditional style matador costume by Jenny, using many designs from the Gilded Heraldry collection, and a few from Elven Court, all done in rich reds and golds.

Urban Threads Costume Contest 2015

The embroidery machines are a-whirrin’, and a chill is in the air. It’s our favorite time of year again! October is here, and it’s time for one of our most popular contests of the year…

The Urban Threads annual Costume Contest!

costume_contest

This year the contest opens Friday, Oct. 2, and ends Monday, Nov. 2, 2015, at noon Central time. That means you have plenty time to send photos from your fun parties on Halloween night! Your costume can be from any time (meaning it doesn’t have to be a Halloween costume), but cannot already have been entered in a previous Urban Threads contest.

How do you enter? Just take a photo of your awesome costume that features at least one Urban Threads embroidery design (hand or machine). Costumes may be for people or pets! You can add it to instagram or the Urban Embroidery flickr group with the tag utcostume2015. However, in order to make your entry official you MUST send an email to contest@urbanthreads.com, with a link to where you photo is online, or attach it to your email and we’ll upload it for you.

We’ll choose our 10 favorites as finalists, and post those 10 to be voted on BY YOU the week after Halloween. UT stitchers will vote to see which lucky costumer wins…

A $50 Urban Threads gift certificate!

(woot!)

Looking to get inspired? Check out the amazing entries from last year.

Good luck and happy stitching everyone!
