Ok, this isn't exactly an embroidery tutorial, but Karline brought them to a party of mine this weekend and they're just as cute as... a... no I wont sa- BUTTON! Ha. I said it. These are Coraline button cookies!
These have got to be the craftiest cookies I've ever seen. The really funny thing is I was ogling these before the weekend, and the next day Karline shows up at my door with a whole plate of them! I love my Karline.
Want to know how to make em? Head on over to Bakerella to find out how, and be warned, once you find Bakerella, you'll be hooked for life. I'm rubbish at baking, but darned if I'm not going to try those cake pops. Yumm....

We feature a lot of fantastic Urban Threadsters here on the blog, but if you've ever visited the flickr pool you know that all kinds of "urban embroidery" pop up in there, and I thought I'd share some of my favorite stunners with you. Embroidery, my friends, is anything but conventional...

Whether you like Amy Winehouse or not may be debatable, but what's not in debate is how awesome this piece from Rosie Geissler is. I adore all the loose threads. They add a really great energy to it.
Laura Amiss has a number of wonderful pieces like this, using freehand machine embroidery. She added a paper doily for a wonderful collage of materials. So simple and stunning!

Who doesn't love dogs and random musical instruments? This amazing hand embroidered patch by William Schaff was done for a friend's renegade marching band. (I didn't know you could have a renegade marching band?) Petey the amazing pup is now a patch! Amazing detail!
This fantastic brooch is made by the hands of Lalousha, who embroiders a whole host of absolutley amazing brooches. I love the raw energy they have. Stunning additions to any wardrobe!

Finally, we have this. Is that an embroidered car door, you might ask? Funnily enough, it is. A series called "Way of Roses" by artist Severija Incirauskaite-Kriauneviciene, posted by Kunstraum Richard Sorge is all cross stitch on car parts. It's a truly stunning series, of which you can see more of in the Strich & Faden Exhibition set. Let you never complain about hooping embroidery again...
I love seeing all the cool stuff you guys do with Urban Threads designs, but equally, I adore seeing other threads being taken to new levels of strange and awesome. Try something daring with your embroidery. You never know what you might end up with!
